Avatar: Fire and Ash Could Lose to Sony’s New Zombie Sequel
Sony’s newest horror release could end one of the box office’s most consistent runs. As Avatar: Fire and Ash enters its fifth weekend, early projections hint that a fresh sequel might take over the top spot.
Fire and Ash,' Zoe Saldaña has become the highest-grossing actor of all time, overtaking Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson.
Zoe Saldana, who plays Neytiri, has also achieved a historical feat that most in the industry only dare to dream of. Saldaña has officially become the highest-grossing actor of all time. Thanks to her role in the Avatar franchise and Gamora in MCU films, her films have hauled in $15.46 billion in leading or lead ensemble roles.
Avatar films are truly the box office queens if we look at the industry today. Three films in, and we are already seeing $6.4 billion from the theaters.
Avatar: Fire and Ash is poised to rake in $13 million to $15 million on its three-day 5th weekend in North America. Internationally, the James Cameron-helmed magnum opus collected $888.3 million, bringing the worldwide total to $1.24 billion. It is the second-highest-grossing 2025 release worldwide.
