Bedrock and General Motors on Monday announced a conceptual plan to redevelop the Renaissance Center and 27 acres along the Detroit riverfront. General Motors (GM) and Bedrock have proposed a $1.6 billion redevelopment of the Renaissance Center that would forever alter downtown Detroit’s iconic skyline.

The plan would reduce office space and redevelop the remaining three towers into hospitality and housing - leaving most of the skyline intact, while adding a large public space on the riverfront.

Bedrock and General Motors announced a plan for the future of the Renaissance Center that would include demolishing two of the seven towers. According to the two organizations, the plan "right-sizes" the RenCen's footprint along the Detroit riverfront.
