WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Derby Fire Department is warning people to be conscious when using and storing air fryers. The warning follows what the fire department said is the third air fryer-related fire this year.

Evacuations were ordered for residents near the Derby Fire on Wednesday morning. Vicente Arenas spoke with them about the tough decisions that have to be made when leaving.

New evacuations will take effect at noon Wednesday for the Derby Fire burning in Eagle County after it grew significantly overnight. The lightning-sparked fire was detected Monday afternoon in remote rugged terrain about 15 miles north of Dotsero.

It's currently estimated at 50 acres in size out in northwest Eagle County and a pre-evacuation notice is in place as a precaution.
