Devin Williams returned to the mound after back-to-back rocky outings cost him his closer spot and looked like the pitcher the Yankees acquired to anchor the back-end of the bullpen on Monday night in Baltimore.

The Yankees have pulled the plug Devin Williams closing games for them one month into his first season with the team, which Deesha Thosar believes is a good as he holds an 11.25 ERA through 10 appearances.

“For right now, I think it’s best for everyone that we pull him out of that role and try to start building some good rhythm and confidence and momentum,” Aaron Boone said Sunday. “And we fully expect him to be a central figure for us moving forward.”
