After the tragic flooding in Kerr County, our photographers were there to document a battered but resilient community.

When the precipitation intensified in the early morning hours Friday, many people failed to receive or respond to flood warnings at riverside campsites known to be in the floodplain.

At least 11 remain missing area, including 10 young girls from Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas. Kerrville's city manager promised a "full review" of emergency procedures.

Gov. Greg Abbott said there are at least 68 people dead in Kerr County, including 40 adults and 28 kids, after flooding hit central Texas. Ten children from Camp Mystic and one counselor are still unaccounted for.

C hloe Childress, a counselor at Camp Mystic, was killed during the devastating flooding in Hunt, Texas, over the holiday weekend, according to a representative of her high school. She graduated from The Kinkaid School earlier this year and was set to attend the University of Texas at Austin in the fall.

Authorities said at least 24 people have died in flooding around Kerr County, Texas, and officials are still performing water rescues.
