Ex-Chelsea manager Frank Lampard returned to soccer on Thursday when he was hired to coach Coventry City in the second division. The 46-year-old Lampard signed a 2 1/2-year contract. Lampard would bring a “clear understanding of exactly what is needed to succeed at the very top level," Coventry owner Doug King said.

Frank Lampard has spoken for the first time since taking over at Coventry City. In an interview with the club website, the new Sky Blues boss spoke of his pleasure at returning to football, at being with Coventry City and of his talks with owner Doug King.

Frank Lampard has been appointed as the new Coventry head coach. The 46-year-old has agreed a two-year contract to take over a side 17th in the Championship and just two points above the relegation zone. Lampard has been out of management since his spell as interim Chelsea boss at the end of the 2022-23 season.
