Hyundai Motor is recalling 226,118 vehicles in the U.S. over concerns the rear view camera image may fail to display, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Wednesday. The recall affects certain 2021-2022 model year Santa Fe SUVs and Elantra sedans.

Hyundai is recalling more than 226,100 examples of its Elantra sedan and Santa Fe SUV for a faulty rearview camera.

Hyundai Motor North America announced it will recall more than 42,000 vehicles due to a wiring issue that can cause the automobiles to roll away, according to a notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Wednesday.

The 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz and Hyundai Tucson vehicles have transmissions that can shift out of “park” without the break pedal having to be applied, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

This issue could result in the camera image failing to display on vehicle screens, significantly diminishing rear visibility.
