Kavan Markwood, the former football player who fell from a 21-foot wall at a Pittsburgh Pirates game, is 'awake' but 'has a long road ahead,' his family said on Saturday, May 3.

The 20-year-old man who fell from the top of a 21-foot-high wall onto the warning track at PNC Park during a Pittsburgh Pirates game last week has taken his first steps since the accident.

Kavan Markwood, 20, fell roughly two stories. His condition has improved enough that he is breathing without the help of a ventilator, his sister said.
