Sovereignty ran away with the 151st Kentucky Derby on Saturday at a muddy Churchill Downs and it only took a few minutes of celebrating before the obvious question was asked of the thoroughbred's trainers: Will the horse run the Preakness Stakes next?

Sovereignty’s victory was the second in the Kentucky Derby for trainer William Mott, who saddled Country House, who won the 2019 Run for the Roses via disqualification.
