Microsoft is cutting more than 9,000 jobs -- 4% of its global workforce -- and as a result, Everwild and the Perfect Dark reboot have been put out to pasture.

In today's gaming world, a decade of development can sometimes amount to nothing. Parent company Microsoft has reportedly cancelled Rare's long-in-development project Everwild. The news comes amid broader layoffs across Microsoft's Xbox division.

While it was known before this that Xbox layoffs were coming this week, what wasn’t known was their scope. It’s not just that jobs that have been cut, but a number of high-profile projects, and others that might have been great if they were not killed early on like this.
