Jensen Huang hosted a “Quantum Day” during GTC, Nvidia’s annual developers conference, where experts shed light on quantum-computing progression. The Nvidia CEO said quantum computers will solve problems more important than just faster food deliveries and more powerful spreadsheets.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on Thursday walked back comments he made in January, when he cast doubt on whether useful quantum computers would hit the market in the next 15 years.

Jensen Huang caused quantum computing stocks to crash after saying he believed quantum technology wouldn’t be very useful for the next 15 to 30 years. Huang is now making amends by launching Nvidia’s first Quantum Day,

In theory, a quantum computer could perform calculations vastly more quickly than today’s conventional computers.

Nvidia will open a quantum computing research lab in Boston, where it plans to collaborate with scientists from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, CEO Jensen Huang said on Thursday.
