The City of Rochester says it will vigorously defend its long-standing Sanctuary City policy after the U.S. Department of Justice filed an amended complaint just hours before the court deadline Friday.

A Rochester man on Friday was sentenced to the maximum prison term for the 2023 shooting death of a city man. Eric Leslie, now 38, was sentenced to 40 years to life in state prison on Dec. 19 by state Supreme Court Justice Richard Healy, according to the Monroe County District Attorney's Office.
