Thanksgiving Day, we’re anticipating the first snowfall of the season for many towns. Rain and snow arrive in southwestern Maine this morning, gradually moving inland and expanding during the afternoon.

People who are planning to travel during the afternoon and evening on Thanksgiving should be careful, as the storm is expected to bring heavy, wet snow and rain.

PORTLAND (WGME) -- A Thanksgiving storm is set to bring the first plowable snow of the season to much of Maine, with messy travel expected Thursday evening and night. The storm will wrap up on Thursday night with much quieter but colder weather heading into the weekend.

Updates have been made to Maine's snowfall map. See where the highest accumulation is expected. Expect the afternoon and evening to bring snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour for Maine's interior and increased wind gusts 25- 30 miles per hour.

The storm is expected to reach its height between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. and could bring 3 to 6 inches of snow to inland areas of the state.
