Tropical Storm Chantal made landfall at 4 a.m. Sunday in South Carolina and is expected to push moisture to New Jersey that could trigger heavy downpours.

Tropical Storm Chantal, the third tropical storm of the 2025 Atlantic season, made landfall near Litchfield Beach, South Carolina, at around 4 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, USA TODAY reported.

Following massive fireworks displays and an abundance of hamburgers and hot dogs for the 4th of July, forecasters are now keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Chantal. Tropical Depression #3 was upgraded to Tropical Storm Chantal at 8:00 Saturday morning as maximum sustained winds reached 40 MPH.
