Ruud van Nistelrooy has been confirmed as Leicester City’s new manager. The 48-year-old succeeds Steve Cooper, who was sacked following the club’s 2-1 home defeat against Chelsea last Saturday, signing a contract to June 2027.

Van Nistelrooy, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker, will begin his first full-time managerial role in English soccer with Leicester in 16th place in the 20-team league and just one point above the relegation zone.

Ruud van Nistelrooy did not have to wait long to receive his first official Premier League appointment. Leicester City have officially called upon the former Dutch international to lead the Foxes forward as their new manager.
