Apollo, Artemis

In the same way that Artemis II serves as the first crewed flight to test technology for future missions to the moon and Mars, Apollo 8, which launched on Dec. 21, 1968, also served as a lunar landing preparation mission, preceding Apollo 11's July 1969 lunar landing.
Artemis II astronauts will be looking at the Moon from a “unique perspective”, as they will be passing by at a much higher altitude compared to the Apollo missions.
Like Apollo 8 in 1968, NASA's Artemis 2 mission from Florida will send a crew of astronauts around the moon and back without landing.
They’ll be itching for a giant leap when this is done. Life onboard Artemis II’s moon-bound spaceship will be a cramped and possibly smelly affair. And it’s not a huge improvement from the last time mankind journeyed into deep space more than 50 years ago.
