Have you been seeing videos of beagles all over your social media feed? Are they adorable and curious, running around on grass for the first time? These dogs are among the 1,500 that were freed from an animal testing research facility in Wisconsin last month.
Some of the 1,500 beagles rescued from a research lab and breeding facility in Wisconsin are making their way to the Bay Area. Fifty of those dogs will be getting new homes in Northern California.
A new busload of beagles arrived at Big Dog Ranch Rescue on Wednesday night, pushing its total to almost 400 canines freed from a Wisconsin lab and prompting a Mother’s Day Adoption Special event.
Paws of War is accepting applications right now from veterans, first responders and Gold Star families for the dogs rescued from a research facility. NewsdayTV's Virginia Huie reports.
Last month, animal rights activists tried to steal some of the dogs from the Wisconsin facility, Ridglan Farms, but were thwarted by tear gas and rubber bullets.
One user pointed out that it is "crazy to think about them never running before this. "
