After 1994's The Mask came out and blew up the box office (at the time it became one of the most successful films based on a comic book), making a sequel was a no-brainer.

If you've seen The Mask, you might have guessed it was based on a comic book given the hero's zany powers. But, Mike Richardson's series is so much darker, and very different to Jim Carrey's movie.
