An epic meltdown in the third inning cost Mississippi State baseball the series against Texas.  The No. 9 Bulldogs (36-12, 14-10 SEC) lost 11-6 to the No. 4 Longhorns (35-10, 15-8) in Austin on May 3 after allowing nine runs in the third inning.

With a win over No. 10 Mississippi State on Saturday, No. 4 Texas would secure its seventh SEC series of the season. The Longhorns opened the weekend with Friday's 3-1 takedown of the Bulldogs.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are playing the Ole Miss Rebels in a midweek nonconference college baseball game.
