Powerball ticket sold in Akron wins $1 million
Someone in Northeast Ohio is holding a Powerball ticket worth $1 million. The ticket matched all five white balls in Saturday night’s drawing. According to Ohio Lottery officials, the winning ticket was sold at an Acme Fresh Market in Akron. The winning numbers were 5, 19, 21, 28, 64, and a Powerball 14.
When the man stopped at a Quik Trip store in December, he heard about the massive jackpot and decided to buy a ticket, officials said in a news release. Although he didn’t win the game’s grand prize, the man’s spontaneous decision paid off with a $150,000 reward, according to the release.
The Powerball winning numbers are in for the Saturday, Jan. 10 drawing with a jackpot that reached an estimated $126.3 million ($56 million cash value). The largest winning Powerball jackpot ticket sold in Michigan was worth $842.4 million and sold in January 2024 at Food Castle in Grand Blanc.
Over the years, Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots crossed the elusive billion-dollar mark a whopping 14 times. Only once did it surpass $2 billion.
