Brazile leads No. 17 Arkansas to 93-86 win over No. 16 Texas Tech in rematch of Sweet 16 game
DALLAS (AP) — Trevon Brazile scored 18 of his 24 points after halftime and finished with 10 rebounds as No. 17 Arkansas overcame No. 16 Texas Tech 93-86 on Saturday in a rematch of a Sweet 16 game in last season’s NCAA Tournament.
But according to the Hogs, Saturday’s meeting with the Red Raiders at the American Airlines Center is about making a statement, not payback. Arkansas enters ranked No. 17, Texas Tech comes in at No. 16, and both teams would prefer to pretend last year’s Sweet 16 ending is ancient history.
Plagued by turnovers, the Washington State women’s basketball team fell off Texas Tech’s pace in the first quarter and the Cougars’ nonconference woes continued with another lopsided loss.
The Texas Tech Lady Raiders face the Abilene Christian Wildcats at OC Sports Center in Odessa, Texas. The teams match up Sunday for the first time this season.
The Bulldogs have won five-straight games since a loss to Texas Tech almost a month ago and now face a dangerous Golden Eagles squad.
The UC Riverside Highlanders and No. 10 BYU Cougars meet Saturday at Marriott Center in Provo, Utah, scheduled for 9 p.m. ET.
