CHENNAI: Chennai and parts of Tamil Nadu are bracing for heavy to very heavy rainfall as a cyclonic system is developing over the Southwest Bay of Bengal. According to the regional meteorological centre here,

This has extended rain activity over Chennai till Dec 1. Chennai will get heavy rainfall (orange alert) on Nov 28 and Dec 1 and heavy to very heavy (yellow alert) on Nov 29 and 30. Cyclone Fengal may form during the next 12 hours and move north-northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu coast during the subsequent two days.

Power supply will be temporarily suspended in several areas of Chennai on Thursday from 9 am to 2 pm to facilitate essential maintenance and repair work, even as the city is already facing disruptions due to heavy rains triggered by a deep depression that is likely to become a cyclonic storm.
