Chicago weather remains unsettled heading into the weekend, with the possibility of more severe storms Friday that could produce tornadoes and flooding. One to five inches of rain fell across the Chicago area Thursday night into Friday, with the heaviest rain falling west of the city. There was significant flooding in Rockford, Illinois.

A tornado watch was still in effect until 11 p.m. Friday for Cook County and northern Illinois, but the severe weather mainly stayed northwest of the Chicago area thanks to a line of cool, dense air that broke the storms up.
