US regulators reportedly altered official maps of flooding risks to remove many of the buildings at a camp in Texas where 27 children died in severe floods.

Maps show how heavy rainfall and rocky terrain helped create the devastating Texas floods that have killed more than 120 people.

Flash floods surged through in the middle of the night, but many local officials appeared unaware of the unfolding catastrophe, initially leaving people near the river on their own.
