The Roosevelt Hotel, which has been used as migrant shelter for almost two years, will close operations in the coming months, Mayor Eric Adams said on Monday. The announcement comes about two weeks after the Federal Emergency Management Agency clawed back $80 million of aid designated for migrant services in New York.

New York City sued the Trump administration last week over the $80 million in federal funding the White House took back without consent. The city's Law Department said it was challenging the president's decision to revoke Federal Emergency Management Agency funding approved to reimburse the city for migrant housing expenses.

The money, Biden-era federal funds for sheltering migrants, disappeared from a city bank account without warning. New York wants it back.

New York City sued the Trump administration on Friday for clawing back $80.5 million of grants intended to cover part of the city's cost of housing migrants.
