India’s Parliament has been disrupted as opposition lawmakers protested the alleged mistreatment of 104 Indian immigrants deported by the United States

Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has said New Delhi is engaging with Washington to ensure the adequate treatment of illegal migrants when they are deported from the US. India's opposition has alleged ill-treatment of 104 Indian nationals who arrived back in their home country yesterday on a US military aircraft.

The government is 'seriously considering' introducing a new law to ensure that Indians going abroad for work can migrate safely and legally. This decision comes after controversy over the deportation of more than 100 Indian migrants,

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said on Thursday that New Delhi is engaging with the U.S. to ensure that illegal Indian immigrants are not mistreated while being deported after opposition parties protested against the treatment of a group that was sent back this week.

One of the deportees told the BBC they had been handcuffed throughout the 40-hour flight, sparking criticism. But Jaishankar said he had been told by the US that women and children were not restrained.
