A number of celebrities have recently made substantial donations to help the victims of these fires. American thrash metal band Metallica donated $500,000 via its All Within my Hands foundation. Beyoncé donated $2.5 million to the Los Angeles Fire Relief Fund. Actress Jamie Lee Curtis donated $1 million to help the victims.

The first of two concerts collectively being referred to as FireAid kicked off at the Kia Forum in the Los Angeles city of Inglewood, to support relief efforts in the wake of the deadly wildfires that ignited earlier this month in the LA area, claiming 29 lives and causing billions of dollars in damage.

Audiences tuning into the FireAid benefit concert for Los Angeles on Thursday night (Jan. 30) were surprised with an early treat when pop superstar Billie Eilish made a surprise appearance alongside Billie Joe Armstrong and the rest of Green Day for a stirring opening performance.

On top of Eilish and Gaga, the billing boasts the biggest names in music. Earth, Wind & Fire, Gracea Abrams, Jelly Roll, Katy Perry, Lil Baby, Olivia Rodrigo, Peso Pluma, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder, Sting, and Tate McRae will be joining Eilish and Gaga at the Intuit Dome.
