John Elliott has the Tri-State Area's updated Sunday morning First Alert Forecast on CBS News New York. Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus announced that he will be moving to the coaches’ booth for the final three games.
A back door front will move in by Wednesday and Thursday keeping us dry and high pressure will remain the main feature for the week. Highs will stay above average all week, topping out in the 70s. Merry Christmas.
Morning temperatures in the 30s will warm nicely through the day thanks to plenty of sunshine and high pressure in control of our pattern. While you may need a coat first thing this morning, a light jacket or sweater may be more comfortable later this afternoon.
Sunday will be much the same story, but a little cooler as we’ll stay in the 40s. One thing to note, today is also the first day of Winter, which means from this point on, daylight will slowly but surely start to get longer.
The cold front driving these scattered showers is parked across the state, and as it moves southeast today, expect a few scattered showers through the evening.
A warming trend is on the way for the upcoming holiday week, which will lead to well-above normal high temperatures.
It will be a fast-moving storm that will pass just north of the Great Lakes as it brings in a sharp, well defined cold front on this late Saturday night. This front will produce another rapid change in the temperature by Sunday morning as the mercury will remain in the 20s most
Monday will be the first of many days where highs will be in the 50s. Breezy winds are likely to return on Monday as well reaching up to 20-25 mph from the south. Christmas Day has the best chance of hitting 60 degrees at this point and we currently are forecasting a record high of 58°. No threat of snow in the near future either.
