Hollywood star Halle Berry was tripped up by the Cannes film festival's new dress code yesterday banning extravagantly large dresses on the red carpet, while others appeared to flout the rules.

The actress and rapper broke up last year, and since then there have been "multiple acts of physical violence," documents show.
