A new wildfire was reported today at 7:57 p.m. in Riverside County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. Currently, there is no information on the containment of the fire and the cause of it remains undetermined.

More than 200 firefighters battled the blaze and by Friday afternoon had managed to contain 15% of it, officials said. Containment refers to what portion of a wildfire's perimeter has been surrounded by a natural or human-made control line.

A wildfire that ignited on Thanksgiving Day and burned dangerously close homes in Riverside County grew significantly overnight. The Canyon Crest Fire had scorched 250 acres as of 6 a.m. Friday, Cal Fire officials stated in an update.
