The U.S. Army is rolling out a new fitness test that will require female soldiers serving in combat jobs to be rated on the same score chart as their male counterparts, a move that comes after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered the Pentagon to review the military’s physical fitness standards last month.

On Monday, the Army announced it was replacing the Army Combat Fitness Test with the Army Fitness Test, AFT, according to a news release published on its website. "The five-event AFT is designed to enhance Soldier fitness, improve warfighting readiness, and increase the lethality of the force," the Army stated.
