We knew a Mario Kart game was coming to the Switch 2, and now Nintendo has finally shared some real details in its latest Nintendo Direct. It’s called Mario Kart World, and it will be a day-one Switch 2 exclusive when the console launches on June 5th.
Mario Kart World will indeed include Rainbow Road, it appears, after an icon for it was briefly displayed on the Nintendo Korea website for the game. The image including Rainbow Road has now been removed, presumably to keep its inclusion a secret, but of course the internet has already taken notice.
Well, we've now had the opportunity to put together some footage - showing the newest entry in the Mario Kart series alongside the existing Switch entry (and juggernaut) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Mario Kart World has all sorts of extra attention to detail and generally just looks a lot crisper on the new and more powerful Switch system.
The new Mario Kart World video also suggests the game will have at least 28 tracks spread across seven Cups, along with 24 vehicles. Interestingly, it looks like Mario Kart World has fully formed vehicles; players seemingly no longer select individual parts to assemble a car.
