Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 became available to buy on Friday, which meant that it also became available for popular tech YouTuber Zack Nelson to subject the handset to his nasty durability test.

Z Fold 7 is 8.9 mm thick when folded, and weighs 215 grams, down from the Fold 6's chunkier 12.1 mm and 239 grams. To put it in perspective, it's even lighter than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The only other tri-fold, the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, measures just 3.9mm thick when unfolded, but the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s improvements have convinced me that Samsung can also deliver here.

Samsung’s usual plate of Galaxy AI features, including generative photo editing, translations, and summaries, returns on the Z Fold 7, with some new ones that can only be described as minor.

The Z Fold 7 starts at $2,000 and comes with storage options of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. It's available in jet black, Blue Shadow and Silver Shadow, and there's an exclusive mint color on Samsung's site.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is available July 25, starting at $1,999. That entry price will get you a Fold 7 with 256GB of storage, but you can of course pay a little more to get more space.
