This Japanese Yew is an example of the hollow-trunked bonsai style known as “saba-miki” which resulted from the Yew tree’s natural aging process. The hollow trunk contains the rare and coveted feature of the remnant of the tree’s inner core wood, including small branch stubs from its youth.
