AHRQ is funding research projects for the prevention of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and for Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria (CARB). The HAI projects should advance the knowledge of HAI detection, prevention and reduction of HAIs. CARB research should promote appropriate antibiotic use, reduce transmission of antibiotic resistance, and prevent HAIs from occurring in the first place.
