On this date in 1942, on the outskirts of the rural South Georgia town of Americus, a radical experiment began with Clarence Jordan's founding of Koinonia Farm. The farm would provide the fertile soil from which Habitat for Humanity would grow. A biblical scholar, Jordan is considered the spiritual father of Habitat for Humanity, and our operational headquarters in Americus now bears his name.
