The Edge of Appalachia preserve provides habitat for a number of Ohio’s state endangered species and the Allegheny woodrat is a priority species among them. The Allegheny woodrat (Neotoma magister) historically occurred across several counties in Ohio and is now restricted to the hills of Adams county.
