On this day in 1962, Coltrane recorded "Coltrane" at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey with the John Coltrane Quartet including McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones. Tracks recorded at this session included 'Not Yet,' 'Out of This World,' 'Soul Eyes' and 'Excerpt (Impressions).'
